Terms of service
Last updated October 7, 2026
These terms apply to merchants who install Mint POS Staff Commissions ("the app"), made by Mint Labs ("we", "us"). By installing or using the app you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy.
The service
The app helps you pay your Shopify POS staff sales commission: its POS extension reports which staff member made each POS sale, and the app records the commission on it under your rates and rules, claws it back when items are returned or orders are refunded or cancelled, keeps each person's balance, the adjustments you make and the payouts you mark as paid, and produces exports, a leaderboard and (on Plus) statements. We may improve or change features; we will not remove a paid feature you rely on without notice.
Your commission arrangements
The app is a record-keeping tool. It never moves money and never pays anyone: you pay your staff yourself (for example through payroll) and mark those payouts in the app. You set the rates, rules, tiers and pay periods, and you are responsible for your commission plans and employment agreements, for checking amounts before you pay, and for payroll, tax and accounting. Sales are credited from the POS extension's reports and Shopify's orders; amounts follow the rules described in the app (price after discounts, items still sold after returns). POS devices without the extension, or offline for a long time, can leave sales without a staff member for you to assign. Orders older than 60 days can't be read by apps without extra permission from Shopify.
Billing
Plans are chosen on Shopify's plan page and billed by Shopify every 30 days in USD after the free trial. You can change or cancel at any time on that page or by uninstalling the app. Charges are handled entirely by Shopify under Shopify's terms.
Availability and liability
We work to keep the app available, accurate and secure, but it is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, our total liability is limited to the fees you paid for the app in the 3 months before a claim.
Data processing addendum
When the app processes personal data on your behalf — your staff members' names, Shopify staff IDs and commission records — you are the controller and we are the processor. The app does not process personal data of your customers (buyers). We will:
- process that data only to provide the app, on your instructions, and never sell it, use it for advertising or combine it across stores;
- process only the minimum needed: staff ID, display name, and their credited sales, commission, adjustments and payouts;
- keep it confidential and limit access to authorised personnel who need it to run and support the app;
- encrypt it in transit (HTTPS) and at rest (Cloudflare D1 encryption at rest);
- use Cloudflare (hosting, database and job queue) and Shopify as our only sub-processors;
- delete all store data after uninstall (shop redaction, 48 hours after uninstall), and let you remove a staff member's name at any time in the app;
- help you respond to data subject requests and notify you without undue delay of any personal data breach.
Changes
We will post changes to these terms here and update the date above. Significant changes will be announced in the app.
