Getting started
- In Shopify POS, edit the home screen and add the Commissions tile (from Apps). While POS is open on that device, every completed sale, return and exchange is reported to the app with the staff member pinned in POS. Staff don't have to tap anything.
- In the app, Settings → the store commission: a percent of the sale (for example 5 %) or a fixed amount per item. Pick your pay period.
- After the first sales, open Staff and give everyone a name (or let staff type their own on the tile). On Pro and Plus, add Rules for products, collections, product types or people that earn differently.
- At the end of a pay period, open Payouts, pick the period, tick the staff you paid and Mark as paid. The app never moves money — you pay through payroll as usual.
Who gets the credit
- The staff member pinned in POS when the sale completes (if POS doesn't use staff PINs, the signed-in user).
- If a line or the cart was credited to someone else in POS (Shopify's own staff attribution, or the tile's "Credit the current cart to" buttons), that person gets the line.
- An exchange credits the items it adds to the staff member who made the exchange; the original items stay with the original seller and returns claw back from them.
- You can reassign any order on the Sales page. POS sales nobody reported (a device without the tile, or sales from before setup) are listed there under "POS sales without a staff member" for 60 days (Shopify's limit for apps reading orders).
- Why a tile and not Shopify's staff field on orders? Shopify only lets apps read that on Shopify Plus and Advanced stores, after Shopify enables it for the app. If your store has it enabled, the app also uses it for POS orders nobody reported.
How commission is worked out
- On the order line's price after every discount (order discounts are shared across lines by Shopify), without or with tax as you choose. Shipping and tips never count.
- Percent rules: sale amount × rate. Fixed rules: the amount × items still sold. Gift cards earn nothing unless you switch that on.
- Rules (Pro and Plus): the most specific matching rule wins — product, then collection, then product type, then all products; a rule for the person beats one for everyone; a location rule (Plus) beats one for every location.
- The rate is fixed on each line when it's first recorded; changing rules or the store rate affects new sales only.
- Only paid orders count (paid, partly refunded or refunded). Cancelled and unpaid orders never count. Sales paid with Shopify's test payments (Bogus Gateway) earn commission until your first order paid through a payment provider; cash sales and orders you mark as paid yourself, such as draft orders, don't end that (Settings → “Sales paid with test payments”, where you can also always or never count them).
Returns and clawbacks
- The app reads each order as it is now and brings each line's commission to match the items still sold. A full return or a cancellation takes back exactly what was recorded.
- A refund of money without returning items (for example a goodwill partial refund) doesn't change commission; record an adjustment if your policy says it should.
- Returns normally appear within minutes; the app also re-checks recently updated orders every 10 minutes. Sales → Re-check orders goes further back (up to 60 days).
- A clawback after a payout lowers the balance, so it comes off the next payout.
Pay periods, payouts and statements
- Weekly, every two weeks, twice a month (1st–15th and 16th–end) or monthly, in your store's time zone.
- A payout settles commission earned up to the end of the chosen finished period; the app won't let you mark more than that as paid.
- A payout recorded by mistake can be voided on the Payouts page; the amount goes back on the balance.
- Statements (Plus): any month or date range per staff member, with opening and closing balance, as PDF or CSV.
Monthly tiers (Plus)
- Add steps like "from 8,000 in monthly sales: 1 % bonus". When a staff member's credited sales in a calendar month reach a step, that bonus is paid on the whole month's sales, on top of their commission.
- Returns in that month lower the bonus again (exactly). Changing tiers applies to the current month; finished months keep the tiers they had.
Leaderboard
- Off until you switch it on in Settings. Ranks active staff by credited sales for the pay period; hide anyone on their staff page.
- Optionally on the POS tile, with or without commission amounts.
Plans
Free: Up to 2 staff members; One store-wide commission rate (percent of the sale or a fixed amount per item); POS tile and background tracker credit each sale to the staff member in POS; Returns, refunds and cancellations claw back exactly; Pay periods, payouts marked as paid, leaderboard.
Pro ($7.99 / month, 7-day free trial): Unlimited staff members; Commission rules per staff member, product, collection or product type; Payout and commission CSV exports.
Plus ($14.99 / month, 7-day free trial): everything in Pro, plus Monthly sales tiers: a bonus rate when a staff member reaches a monthly target; Location rules and location filters; Staff statements as PDF and CSV; Full ledger export.
On Free, commission is recorded for up to 2 staff members; anyone else who sells in POS is kept as "waiting" and calculated (up to 60 days back) once you activate them. Plans are managed on Shopify's plan page (Plans → Choose a plan / Manage plan) and billed by Shopify. Changing plans never deletes anything.
Privacy
See our privacy policy and security policy. In short: the app reads no customer details; it keeps your staff members' names and their commission records for you, and you can remove a staff member's name at any time.
